The End of the Line
This latest DVD/video film in Snowbow Productions' The Great Liners series continues the story of the ships and the people that gave us the once biggest shipping industry and merchant navy in the world.
The film follows the voyages of many ships belonging to the once great shipping companies as they make their way home - many for the last time - having been away for as long as two years. Their voyages have taken them all around the world, from the frozen ports of North America in mid winter, to the humidity of the Panama Canal and the warm blue waters of the tropics.
Ships are shown at their berths in ports worldwide, as well as at sea. Footage of their voyages, taken from both above and below decks, features some of the most spectacular and frightening storms ever captured on film. Share the emotions felt by the officers and crews as they sail closer and closer to home and their loved ones, and, as in many cases, towards the ships' scrap yard graves after they had been so much part of their lives.
